Dr. A K M Faizul Huq is a distinguished medical professional with an extensive background in healthcare and notable contributions to the field. Currently serving as the Assistant Personal Physician to the Honorable President of Bangladesh. Dr. Faizul has demonstrated excellence in both military and civilian medical scenarios.

Dr. Faizul’s academic journey includes the completion of his MBBS from Mymensingh Medical College and being a graded Special in Internal Medicine from the Bangladesh Army in 2003. He completed FCPS Part-1 in Medicine and completed a Part-2 training course under the AFMI. Dr. Faizul has also completed a Diploma in Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases (DTCD) from BSMMU and training in Respiratory Medicine and Tuberculosis at NIDCH.

Having joined the Army Medical Corps in 1996, Dr. Faizul has served at various facilities of the Bangladesh Army both domestically and internationally. His notable contributions include planning and formatting the initial phase of the CMH automation project, where he served as the Clinical Focal Point Officer. His dedication was recognized with awards such as the Force Comd Commendation and a Special letter of appreciation for outstanding performance, diligence, and hard work while treating patients with Lassa fever in Liberia as part of the UN Peacekeeping Force. Furthermore, he has received the highest Sena Bahini Padak (SBP) for dedicated extraordinary performance in treating COVID-19 patients and Sena Parodorshikota Padak (SPP) for his dedicated service in Liberia as a Medicine Specialist. Dr. Faizul is also actively involved in shaping medical guidelines as an esteemed member of the Editorial Board of the National Guideline for management of COVID-19.

As a prolific researcher, Dr. Faizul has contributed significantly to medical literature, with two international PubMed publications on COVID-19, three original publications as the key author, and co-authorship in two international and three local journals.
