Prof. Dr. (Brig Gen) Md Abdur Rab (Retd) is a distinguished Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with over 35 years of excellence in clinical practice, teaching, and healthcare leadership. A veteran of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, he has seamlessly combined surgical expertise with high-level administrative roles, leaving a lasting impact on national and international healthcare platforms.

He began his academic journey with a BDS from Dhaka Dental College, followed by FCPS in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS). To further sharpen his skills, he pursued specialized training worldwide, including advanced oral implantology in South Korea, China, and Thailand, and maxillofacial surgery in Pakistan.

During his illustrious military career, Dr. Abdur Rab served in key leadership roles, notably as Consultant Dental Surgeon General at the Directorate General of Medical Services, where he shaped policies and training programs in dental and maxillofacial care. He also played a vital role in professional development within the Armed Forces Medical Institute and military dental centres.

Dr. Md Abdur Rab’s contributions are extensive, covering diverse areas such as oral squamous cell carcinoma, ameloblastoma, maxillofacial trauma, odontomas, endodontics, prosthodontics, and forensic applications of maxillofacial surgery. His expertise spans the full spectrum of care—ranging from routine dental procedures to highly complex maxillofacial surgeries—ensuring patients receive safe, precise, and compassionate treatment at every level.

His service extended beyond borders through United Nations peacekeeping missions in Somalia and Liberia, where he contributed to global humanitarian healthcare.

An avid academic, Dr. Abdur Rab has authored and co-authored numerous papers in reputed journals such as the Bangladesh Military Dental Journal, JAFMC, and Bangladesh Armed Forces Medical Journal. His research spans oral cancer, maxillofacial trauma, tumors, prosthodontics, endodontics, and forensic dentistry.

He is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences, including the Asia Pacific Dental Congress in the Philippines, and various international seminars on dental and aesthetic surgery.
