Dr. Md. Rakib Ul Hasan is a distinguished rheumatologist with a strong academic foundation and more than a decade of multifaceted clinical experience within Bangladesh’s public healthcare system. He completed his MBBS from Sher-E-Bangla Medical College, Barishal, setting the stage for a career marked by academic excellence and clinical dedication.

Dr. Hasan completed his FCPS training in the Department of Medicine at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College, where he developed broad clinical expertise in managing complex and critical medical conditions. He later obtained his MD in Rheumatology from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), the premier postgraduate medical institution in the country. His specialization is further enhanced by international exposure, including the prestigious EULAR Course in Rheumatic Diseases (ECRD) from the EULAR School of Rheumatology in Switzerland. He also earned the Certificate Course in Diabetology (CCD) from BIRDEM, strengthening his ability to manage metabolic disorders that frequently coexist with chronic rheumatic illnesses.

His entry into BSMMU as a Rheumatology Resident marked a pivotal step in his career. During this rigorous residency, he was actively involved in outpatient and inpatient management, diagnostic evaluations, interpretation of advanced investigations, and academic activities. This period allowed him to develop deep expertise in treating a wide spectrum of rheumatic and autoimmune conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, spondyloarthropathies, vasculitis, and connective tissue disorders.

Following residency, Dr. Hasan served as a Rheumatologist at a government General Hospital in Munshiganj Sadar, where he managed a high patient load, provided specialized consultations, and contributed to the development of rheumatology services at the district level. He subsequently joined Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he currently serves as a Rheumatologist. At this vital tertiary care institution, he plays an integral role in clinical management, multidisciplinary teamwork, and the strengthening of rheumatology services for patients from across the country.

Throughout his career, Dr. Hasan has earned a reputation for his diagnostic acumen, clinical diligence, and compassionate approach to patient care. His professional interests include autoimmune diseases, inflammatory arthritis, metabolic bone disorders, and evidence-based management of chronic rheumatic conditions.

With a blend of advanced national training, international expertise, and hands-on experience in both rural and tertiary care settings, Dr. Md. Rakib Ul Hasan continues to make significant contributions to advancing rheumatology care in Bangladesh.
