Dr. Shahabuddin Mahmud is an Associate Professor of Pediatric Nephrology and a public health specialist with over a decade of experience in managing complex kidney disorders in children. He is known for delivering evidence-based care, developing individualized treatment plans, and working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to improve pediatric patient outcomes. His work effectively bridges clinical practice and public health, with a particular focus on advancing child health in the face of environmental and climate-related challenges.

He completed his MBBS from Sir Salimullah Medical College, Dhaka, followed by an MD in Pediatric Nephrology from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. He further advanced his clinical expertise through a fellowship in pediatric Nephrology at the National University Hospital, Singapore. In addition, he holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the State University of Bangladesh, underscoring his strong foundation in population health and preventive medicine.

Dr. Mahmud currently serves as Associate Professor of pediatric Nephrology at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College, Dhaka. In this role, he provides specialized care for children with renal diseases, conducts comprehensive assessments, and manages both acute and chronic kidney conditions. He develops tailored treatment strategies, closely monitors patient progress, and works in close coordination with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care. He also actively educates patients and their families on kidney health and disease management.

Alongside his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Mahmud is actively engaged in academic and research activities. His work focuses on pediatric nephrology and public health, contributing to the development of clinical guidelines, treatment protocols, and evidence-based practices. He is involved in analyzing health data to inform public health policy and evaluating programs aimed at preventing kidney disease in children. He also plays a key role in training and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, as well as supporting healthcare providers in adopting best practices.

Dr. Mahmud is equally committed to community outreach and public health advocacy. He regularly participates in awareness programs, workshops, and seminars to promote kidney health and preventive care, with particular emphasis on the impact of climate change on child health. His efforts are directed toward improving outcomes among vulnerable populations and strengthening preventive healthcare strategies.

His professional interests include the management of childhood kidney diseases, advancement of pediatric nephrology care, medical education, and public health research—reflecting his ongoing commitment to improving child health through both clinical excellence and strategic health initiatives.
