Dr. Kazi Mazharul Islam is a highly experienced General and Hepatobiliary Surgeon with advanced expertise in the diagnosis and surgical management of diseases affecting the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, pancreas, and gastrointestinal tract. Known for his meticulous surgical skills, sound clinical judgment, and compassionate approach, he is committed to delivering safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered surgical care.

He completed his MBBS from Dhaka Medical College and went on to earn MCPS in Surgery, FCPS in Surgery, and FCPS in Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery from the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons. His advanced training has equipped him to manage both routine and highly complex surgical conditions with precision and confidence.

Dr. Islam is currently serving as Assistant Professor of Surgery at Dhaka Medical College Hospital under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), where he combines clinical practice with academic teaching and postgraduate surgical training. Over the years, he has held several important positions at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and other government hospitals, gaining extensive experience in general surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, and emergency surgical care.

One of the defining achievements of his career has been over 12 years of working as Chief Assistant to Professor Mohammad Ali, one of the pioneers of hepatobiliary and liver transplant surgery in Bangladesh. This invaluable mentorship has provided him with exceptional expertise in advanced liver, biliary, pancreatic, and liver transplant surgery.

His areas of expertise include liver tumors and cysts, gallbladder and bile duct diseases, pancreatic disorders, acute and chronic pancreatitis, hernia surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, complex abdominal operations, and the surgical management of traumatic injuries. He has a special interest in minimally invasive techniques whenever appropriate, helping patients achieve faster recovery, less postoperative pain, and improved outcomes.

Dr. Islam believes that successful surgery begins with trust and clear communication. He takes time to explain each diagnosis and treatment option, ensuring that patients and their families feel informed, reassured, and confident throughout their surgical journey.

In addition to his clinical practice, he has contributed to numerous research publications in hepatobiliary surgery and is an active member of several prestigious professional organizations, including the Society of Surgeons of Bangladesh, the Society of Hepatobiliary Surgery of Bangladesh, and the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (IHPBA).
