Dr. Mukhtarul Islam Palash is a skilled Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon with specialized expertise in joint replacement, adult reconstruction, sports-related knee conditions, and complex orthopaedic trauma. With advanced postgraduate training and international professional credentials, he is committed to delivering evidence-based, precise, and patient-centered care focused on restoring mobility, function, and quality of life.
He completed his MBBS from Dhaka Medical College and obtained his MS in Orthopaedic Surgery from the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR). He subsequently earned MRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and completed advanced AO Trauma training in Switzerland, strengthening his expertise in contemporary trauma management and surgical principles.
Dr. Palash currently serves as Assistant Registrar in the Arthroplasty Unit at NITOR, Dhaka, where he is involved in the assessment and surgical management of patients requiring joint replacement, adult reconstruction, and complex trauma care. His clinical experience includes Total Knee Replacement (TKR), Total Hip Replacement (THR), knee arthroscopy, fracture fixation, and management of spinal trauma.
His areas of expertise include hip and knee replacement surgery, revision arthroplasty, knee arthroscopy, adult reconstruction, fracture management, orthopaedic trauma, and spinal injuries. He also manages common and complex musculoskeletal conditions, including chronic joint problems, ligament and meniscal injuries, and spinal conditions such as prolapsed lumbar intervertebral disc (PLID) and spine fractures.
Dr. Palash combines meticulous surgical technique with a patient-focused approach. He believes in carefully understanding each patient’s condition, explaining treatment options clearly, and developing an individualized care plan aimed at achieving the best possible functional outcome.
He is actively engaged in clinical research and academic activities. His research on tendon transfer techniques for chronic Achilles’ tendon rupture was published in the Journal of Orthopaedic Reports in 2025, and he has presented on contemporary meniscus repair techniques at the Dhaka Knee Summit 2025.
