Dr. Mohammed Arafat Hossain Rubayet is a compassionate Critical Care and Internal Medicine specialist, currently serving as Assistant Professor in the Intensive Care Unit at the National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital, Dhaka. With an MBBS from Chittagong Medical College and an MD in Critical Care Medicine from BIRDEM Academy, he brings over a decade of clinical experience in managing critically ill patients and complex chronic diseases.
In addition to his ICU expertise, Dr. Rubayet has a strong background in diagnosing and managing chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, COPD, chronic kidney disease, and heart failure. He is known for combining evidence-based medical judgment with a personalized, empathetic approach to patient care. His ability to build rapport with patients and their families has made him a trusted figure in both acute and long-term care settings.
Dr. Rubayet is highly proficient in life-saving procedures like endotracheal intubation, central venous catheterization, dialysis catheter placement, and bedside tracheostomy. He utilizes advanced diagnostic tools such as ABG analysis, bedside ultrasonography, echocardiography, and bronchoscopy to guide timely interventions.
He previously led a 35-bed dedicated COVID ICU at Mugdha Medical College Hospital, managed high-acuity cases at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, and provided both perioperative and rural healthcare earlier in his career. His work is further enriched by his involvement in staff training, CME programs, academic research, and presentations at international forums.
Dr. Rubayet is certified in BLS, ACLS, and trained in mechanical ventilation, critical care ultrasound, and hemodynamic simulation. He is an active member of BSCCM, ANZICS, ESICM, and other professional societies.
