Dr. Sharmina Nabi Ony is a dynamic medical professional committed to leveraging her problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills to impact the healthcare field positively. With a passion for global exposure, she aims to bring transformative experiences back to her home country, contributing to individual and societal well-being.
She holds an MBBS degree from Shahabuddin Medical College under Dhaka University. She is fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC), UK, after successfully passing PLAB 1 and PLAB 2.
Dr. Sharmina’s career encompasses clinical, research, and administrative roles. She served as a Medical Affairs Executive at a leading pharmaceutical company and gained clinical experience as a Senior Medical Officer at Caregivers Healthcare Ltd., where she also led caregiver training. Additionally, she observed clinical practice in Stroke Medicine at Broomfield Hospital, UK, further honing her expertise in global healthcare standards.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Sharmina is a skilled communicator, having anchored for ‘Dangguli Entertainment’ and worked as a radio jockey for 96.4 Spice FM. She has also served as a Brand Ambassador for international UN simulation conferences and as Vice President of the Voice Artist Committee Bangladesh. Notably, she hosted the health-focused radio show “Health Talk,” sponsored by BRAC.
Dr. Sharmina actively engages in community service, organizing free health campaigns and supporting underprivileged families with welfare groups like “Ek Takar Ahar” during COVID. As a caregivers’ instructor, she trains individuals in child and elderly care. She also earned the “Best Negotiator Award” at an international diplomacy conference.
Dr. Sharmina is certified in Immediate Life Support (ILS) from the Academy of Life Support, UK, and has completed training in basic ultrasound techniques.
Dr. Sharmina Nabi Ony’s research on blood transfusion practices in low-risk postpartum hemorrhage has been featured in The Journal of Ad-din Women’s Medical College.
