Dr. Umma Sania is a highly experienced and compassionate Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, with nearly 25 years of dedicated clinical service across both public and private healthcare sectors in Bangladesh. She holds an MBBS from Sher-e-Bangla Medical College, a Diploma in Gynaecology and Obstetrics (DGO) from Dhaka Medical College, and is a Fellow of the College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Currently serving as a Consultant at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Dr. Sania brings extensive hands-on expertise in managing routine and complex obstetric and gynaecological cases. Her previous roles include Junior Consultant at DGHS and DMCH, Assistant Registrar at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, and Medical Officer at various government facilities. She has also contributed her expertise to several private institutions, including Selina General Hospital in Dhaka.
Dr. Sania’s clinical skills span a wide range of obstetric and gynaecological procedures, including normal and assisted vaginal deliveries, caesarean sections, management of high-risk pregnancies, as well as surgeries such as hysterectomy, myomectomy, cystectomy, and salpingectomy. She is also a trained infertility specialist, with a focus on PCOS management and intrauterine insemination (IUI).
In pursuit of excellence, she has completed numerous certified training programs in breastfeeding counseling, menstrual regulation (MR), long-acting reversible contraception (LARC), ultrasonography (USG), pain and diabetes management in pregnancy, essential obstetric and newborn care, and advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeries.
Dr. Sania is widely recognized for her contributions to reproductive health education. She serves as a master trainer and mentor in MR and post-abortion care (PAC) through RH-STEP and Ipas Bangladesh, and has taken on roles as a coordinator and trainer in international maternal health initiatives under HOPE and HICS programs.
She also has a special interest in women’s mental health, having completed training as a certified Mental Health Ambassador. Known for her patient-centered and empathetic approach, Dr. Umma Sania is particularly skilled in managing postmenopausal issues, abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, and postoperative complications.
