Dr. Anwar Parvez Bhuiyan is a highly qualified and experienced psychiatrist who serves as a lieutenant colonel in the Bangladesh Armed Forces. He completed his MBBS from Sher-e-Bangla Medical College, Barisal. Demonstrating a continuous pursuit of excellence in psychiatry, he undertook a Grading Course in Psychiatry (equivalent to MPhil level) at the Armed Forces Medical Institute (AFMI). He subsequently obtained the prestigious Fellowship of the College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS) in Psychiatry. He was awarded the Classification in Psychiatry—the highest attainable level for specialists within the Armed Forces.
To expand his healthcare leadership expertise, he earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Hospital Administration. Further enhancing his clinical acumen, Dr. Anwar Parvez Bhuiyan completed advanced training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the renowned National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Bangalore, India.
Throughout his career, Dr. Anwar Parvez Bhuiyan has held several notable appointments in both national and international medical services. He served as a medical officer in multiple branches of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, including postings with the Kuwait Armed Forces and the Border Guard Bangladesh.
As a psychiatrist, he has served in graded and classified specialist roles at major military hospitals, including CMH Dhaka, the Bangladesh Navy Hospital in Chattogram, Border Guard Hospital in Dhaka, and CMH Bogura. In addition to his clinical work, he has contributed significantly to medical education. He is currently the Head of the Department of Psychiatry at Army Medical College, Bogura, and serves as an examiner for both the MBBS final examinations under the Bangladesh University of Professionals and for the FCPS examination conducted by the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Dr. Anwar Parvez Bhuiyan has a strong research background, having conducted studies on negative symptoms among schizophrenic patients and psychiatric comorbidities in autism spectrum disorder. His work reflects a deep commitment to advancing psychiatric knowledge and patient care.
Alongside his military and academic career, Dr. Anwar Parvez Bhuiyan has been active in providing mental health services to the civilian population. He has practiced psychiatry at prominent healthcare institutions across Bangladesh. Through his combined roles in military service, academic leadership, research, and private practice, Dr. Anwar Parvez Bhuiyan continues to make significant contributions to the field of psychiatry in Bangladesh.
