Brig Gen (Retd) Prof. Dr. Md. Niamul Gani Chowdhury is a highly accomplished and dedicated gastroenterologist with extensive experience in internal medicine, and gastroenterology. With a distinguished career spanning several prestigious institutions and notable roles, Dr. Niamul has made significant contributions to the field of healthcare in Bangladesh.

Dr. Niamul’s career highlights include serving as the Personal Physician to the Honourable President of Bangladesh, demonstrating his exceptional expertise and trustworthiness in providing medical care to high-profile individuals. He has held various positions of responsibility, such as Clinical Specialist (Internist), Head of Gastroenterology Department, and Head of Medicine Department in renowned healthcare institutions like the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and Base Bashar, Bangladesh Air Force.

As the former Brigadier General and Professor, Dr. Niamul served as the Head of the Medicine Department at the Armed Forces Medical College. His leadership and academic expertise contribute to the development of future healthcare professionals.

He obtained an MBBS degree from Dhaka Medical College, University of Dhaka. He holds a Diploma in Gastroenterology and Army Medicine from The Second Military Medical University of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army in Shanghai, China. He also achieved FCPS in Internal Medicine from the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS).

Driven by a passion for continuous learning, Dr. Niamul has pursued post-graduate training both nationally and internationally. He has completed advanced training in endoscopy, therapeutic endoscopy, and ERCP, further enhancing his expertise in gastroenterology and related procedures. Additionally, he has actively participated in workshops and conferences, staying abreast of the latest advancements and innovations in the medical field.

Dr. Niamul has contributed significantly to medical research and has several publications to his credit. His research focuses on areas such as hepatocellular carcinoma, meningitis, adverse drug reactions, asthma, and preventive measures for bronchial asthma. His commitment to disseminating knowledge is evident through his role as a visiting professor, academic coordinator, examiner, and member of the editorial board of the Journal of Armed Forces Medical College.
