Dr. Nayeem Al Imam is an accomplished, compassionate and dedicated medical professional with a wealth of experience in the field of surgery. Currently serving as the Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery at Uttara Adhunik Medical College in Uttara, Dhaka, Dr. Nayeem has consistently demonstrated excellence throughout his career.
His journey in academia and healthcare leadership began in 2022, when he assumed the role of Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery at Uttara Adhunik Medical College. Prior to this, Dr. Nayeem held the position of Associate Professor in the same department from 2016 to 2022, contributing significantly to the academic and surgical advancements of the institution.
Dr. Nayeem’s journey in the medical field commenced with his internship training in the Department of Surgery at Mymensingh Medical College & Hospital, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors. He steadily climbed the ranks, serving as an Honorary Medical Officer at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and subsequently undertaking roles as Assistant Registrar of Surgery, Resident Surgeon, Registrar of Surgery, and eventually, Assistant Professor at Uttara Adhunik Medical College.
Throughout his career, Dr. Nayeem has been involved in various medical institutions, including a role as a Consultant in Charge at General Hospital, Faridpur, and as a Consultant of Surgery at Upazilla Health Complex, Dohar, Dhaka. His diverse experiences include serving as a Medical Officer in different capacities, further enriching his expertise and understanding of the healthcare landscape.
Dr. Nayeem earned his MBBS from Mymensingh Medical College in 1999, followed by the completion of FCPS in Surgery from Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2007.
In addition to his clinical and academic roles, Dr. Nayeem has actively engaged in research and presentations. He has contributed to various publications, covering topics ranging from the evaluation and management of carcinoma head of the pancreas to the management of rare conditions such as Phyllodes Tumour. His dissertation, focusing on the incidence and determinants of surgical intervention in patients with acute abdomen, reflects his commitment to advancing medical knowledge.
