Dr. Mohammad Rakibul Islam Babu is a distinguished orthodontist with extensive expertise in orthodontics, dentofacial orthopaedics, and dental education in Bangladesh. Renowned for his strong academic foundation and commitment to professional excellence, he strives to contribute meaningfully to his institution and to the broader dental community. Dr. Babu consistently applies his clinical proficiency and academic insight to support organizational goals while embracing new challenges that help expand his professional potential.

He completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Dhaka Dental College, followed by FCPS in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics from the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS). To enhance his clinical capabilities, he has pursued multiple advanced trainings, including Post Graduate Training (PGT) in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and PGT in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics from Dhaka Dental College. He also completed a Professional Implant Training Course at the Osstem Implant Center in Dhaka, further strengthening his competency in modern dental procedures.

Prof Rakib has built an accomplished career marked by progressive leadership roles in prominent dental institutions. Since March 2021, he has been serving as Professor (C.C) at City Dental College and Hospital, where he contributes to academic leadership, clinical supervision, and research mentorship. Prior to this, he held the positions of Associate Professor and Head of the Orthodontics Department at the same institution. His earlier roles include Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at City Dental College and Hospital, and at MH Samorita Hospital and Medical College (Dental Unit). Alongside his academic responsibilities, he has served as a part-time dental consultant at Mosabbir Cancer Care Center (MCCC), providing essential dental care to oncology patients.

His professional journey began as an intern doctor at Dhaka Dental College & Hospital, laying the foundation for a distinguished career dedicated to dentistry, patient care, and teaching excellence.

Prof Rakib is also an active researcher with numerous publications in national dental journals. His research covers a diverse range of orthodontic and dental health topics, including malocclusion patterns, dental arch variations, treatment need assessments, hypodontia prevalence, oral hygiene attitudes among students, complications in wisdom tooth extraction, and infection control practices in dental clinics. He has authored multiple case reports on complex clinical scenarios such as mesiodens extraction, canine eruption management, morphological tooth anomalies, open-bite correction, and periapical lesion treatment. His review articles further highlight his academic depth, including notable work on the role of Enterococcus faecalis in root canal treatment failure.

With a strong presence in both academic and clinical domains, Prof Mohammad Rakibul Islam Babu continues to play a pivotal role in advancing orthodontic education, promoting evidence-based dental practice, and enriching the scientific literature of dentistry in Bangladesh.
