Front Desk and Billing Officer
Responsibilities & Context
- Serves patients by greeting and helping them, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records and accounts
- Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying providers of patients’ arrival, reviewing service delivery compared to schedule, and reminding providers of service delays
- Comfort patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties, answering patients’ questions, and maintaining the reception area.
- Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
- Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information
- Processing billing and payments, using software
- Comforting distressed patients – this may range from simply fixing any appointment issues that may arise, to being the voice of comfort during times of extreme stress and emergency.
- Process transactions to the cash register by effectively and efficiently handling cash, credit card, and mobile wallet payments
- Coordinating with other departments within the hospital to ensure that patients can receive the care they need.
- Utilize our medical office software to schedule new and follow-up appointments for our patients.
- Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
- Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
