Dr. A. N. M. Nure Azam is a highly skilled hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and liver transplant surgeon with extensive experience in managing complex diseases of the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and biliary system. Combining advanced surgical expertise with evidence-based practice and compassionate patient care, he is dedicated to achieving the best possible outcomes for his patients.
He completed his MBBS from Dhaka Medical College under the University of Dhaka and obtained his FCPS in Surgery from the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons following rigorous postgraduate training at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. His broad surgical training included general surgery, emergency and trauma surgery, and urology, providing a strong foundation for his advanced specialization.
Dr. Azam currently serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic and Liver Transplant Surgery at Bangladesh Medical University, Dhaka. He is actively involved in clinical care, surgical education, academic activities, and the management of complex hepatopancreatobiliary disorders. He is also undergoing advanced residency training in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery.
With more than 15 years of focused exposure to hepatobiliary surgery, Dr. Azam has trained and worked at leading centers including Gastroliver Hospital and Research Institute, BRB Hospital, and the Advanced Gastroliver Center at Health and Hope Hospital. He has received mentorship from renowned hepatobiliary surgeons and has played an active role in the management of complex liver and pancreatic diseases. He was a member of a liver transplant team at ICRI and BIRDEM in 2018 and later participated in liver transplant procedures performed at Bangladesh Medical University in 2025.
His areas of expertise include hepatobiliary surgery, pancreatic surgery, liver transplantation, complex gastrointestinal surgery, and the surgical management of hepatopancreatobiliary cancers. He is recognized for his meticulous surgical technique, sound clinical judgment, and commitment to adopting the latest advances in surgical care.
An accomplished academic and researcher, Dr. Azam has authored and co-authored numerous national and international publications on hepatobiliary surgery, pancreatic diseases, liver trauma, bile duct injuries, chronic pancreatitis, colorectal liver metastases, and liver transplantation. His research has been presented at prestigious international conferences and published in respected peer-reviewed journals.
Through his combined roles as surgeon, educator, and researcher, Dr. Azam continues to contribute to the advancement of hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and liver transplant surgery in Bangladesh, with an unwavering commitment to surgical excellence, innovation, and patient-centered care.
